How We Do It

Upon concluding a brief 15-minute discovery call, we employ a structured three-step meeting approach to finalize your estate plan. This meticulous process guarantees the creation of custom, thorough, and timely plans. Partnering alongside HootOwl, we will provide unwavering support throughout the entire journey, guiding you and keeping you on track to successfully complete the process. Our key is consistent communication with our clients to ensure everyone is informed of what is going on and who is responsible for the next step.

DESIGN

  • Our planning process starts with you! We want to learn more about your background and family history. Understanding the relationships in your life and the various dynamics help educate us so we can deliver a plan that fits your life.

  • After learning more about your family’s background, we will then review the various documents that comprise an estate plan. We’ll also discuss how the various documents work during moments of incapacity and at death.

  • The final step of our initial meeting is to design your plan! Estate plans are not cookie cutter documents - each plan is unique, just like our clients.

SIGN

  • Before our scheduled signing meeting, our dedicated team will send you a concise document outlining your estate plan and for final details confirmation. Upon receiving your approval, we will proceed to finalize your estate planning documents and have them printed in preparation for the signing meeting.

  • At the signing meeting, we will carefully go through your estate plan, ensuring a thorough understanding of how all the documents synergize to establish a comprehensive plan for both you and your family. All in preparation for the exciting last step of proceeding with the signing and notarization of your estate plan.

  • A commonly neglected aspect of an estate plan is ensuring that your assets are appropriately aligned with the structure of your estate plan. While many clients opt for a trust, it is essential to note that assets not correctly titled under the trust's name are excluded from the estate plan. To address this issue, we will carefully assess what is required to fund your estate plan, offering the option for our team to handle the funding process on your behalf.

DELIVER

  • The first item we will discuss at our binder delivery meeting is to confirm that your estate plan has been properly funded. If our team is funding your estate plan, we will provide you with all of the supporting documents and a comprehensive list of your assets. If you are self-funding, we will review and confirm the final funding process.

  • We will provide you with fully executed physical and digital copies of your estate plan and all supporting documents.

  • While the focus of our work has been ensuring the smooth transfer of your assets, estate planning is so much more than that. We will end with a discussion of how you plan to pass on your intangible assets. We provide the option for clients to record legacy videos with our team, which are fantastic ways to pass on family stories, faith traditions, and words of wisdom to loved ones.
